Advanced Capacity Release


Description:

This four-hour, hands-on course will cover in detail the process by which a shipper can release all or a portion of one of their firm contracts to another party.  Specifically, the course will cover the processing of capacity release offers, bids, awards, recalls, and re-puts, including:

·         The requirements for bidding on offered capacity

·         The timeline for posting offers and bids

·         Biddable, Non-biddable, and Pre-arranged offers

·         The 28-day rule

·         Asset Management Arrangements (AMAs) and Retail Choice Programs (RCPs)

·         Evaluating an offer and its path

·         Utilizing our graphical capacity release map to create offers and bids

·         Mandatory and optional reputs of recalled capacity

·         Invoicing of released and acquired capacity

Objective:

The objective of this course is to provide students the knowledge and hands-on experience needed to perform basic to complex capacity releases in the LINK® System.

Prerequisites, Who should attend:

Students attending this course should have attended the Fundamentals of LINK® class or have equivalent experience.  To fully appreciate the topics covered in this course, the student should have at least five years of natural gas industry experience.

Flowing Gas for Operators


Description:

This two-hour course will cover, in detail, the process by which measured location volumes are allocated among Service Requester’s contract(s). Specifically, the course will cover a full description of all fields on the Pre-Determined Allocation (PDA) screen and how to submit a PDA for each available allocation methodology, such as Pro-Rata, Ranked, OBA Swing and Percentage. We will also provide allocation examples for each of the above allocation methodologies.

In addition, we will cover all the steps of processing a retroactive PDA.

Finally, this course will review all PDA and Allocation reports which are available to receipt and delivery operators through Report Submittal or Report Subscription.

Objective:

The objective of this course is to give students a good working knowledge of the area of gas transmission called flowing gas, or the process by which measured volumes at a location are allocated among Service Requester Contracts.

Students attending this course should have some familiarity with the gas industry or have attended the Fundamentals of LINK® class.

Flowing Gas for Shippers


Description:

This two-hour course will cover, in detail, how imbalances are created and where in LINK a Service Requester can view their imbalances at different levels. We will also be covering how to set up a Storage Swing Pre-determined Allocation (PDA), view storage injections and withdrawals through the Storage Information screen and how to submit a storage inventory transfer.

In addition, we will cover all the steps in creating and confirming an Imbalance Trade.

Finally, this course will review all Storage and Imbalance reports which are available to shippers through Report Submittal or Report Subscription.

Objective:

The objective of this course is to give students a good working knowledge at a Service Requester level of the flowing gas subject area of gas transmission.

Fundamentals of LINK®


Description:

This eight hour course will explain how to utilize the LINK® System (Spectra Energy’s primary gas transportation customer interface application) to perform essential gas transportation and storage activities. Specific areas covered by the training include:

· Navigating the LINK® System

· Segmentation

· Contracts and Requests for Service (RFS)

· Nominations and Confirmations

· Flowing Gas (Measurement, PDAs, Allocations, Imbalances)

· Capacity Release

· Scheduling

· The Measurement Reporting Center.

The Contracts, Nominations/Confirmations, Flowing Gas, and Capacity Release sessions will be a combination of lecture and hands-on use of the LINK® System, while the other areas will be primarily lecture.

Objective:

The objective of this course will be to provide users with a solid foundation for thoroughly understanding standard gas transportation activities on the Spectra Energy pipelines, such as nominating and confirming gas flows. A secondary objective is to provide extensive insight into the various features and functions provided by the LINK® System.

Prerequisites, Who should attend:

This course requires a basic understanding of the natural gas industry. Extensive experience with standard gas industry processes (nominations, confirmations, scheduling, etc.) using other pipelines’ EBBs would be helpful.

Introduction to the Natural Gas Industry


Description:

This four hour course is designed to give new employees an overview of the natural gas industry, Spectra Energy's North American business units, and how Spectra Energy's LINK® System supports essential gas transportation and storage activities. This is a lecture-only class where no hands-on training will be provided.

 

Objective:

 

The objective of this course will be to give new users a basic understanding of the natural gas industry, Spectra Energy's North American business units, and basic gas transportation and storage activities supported by the LINK® System.

 

Prerequisites, Who should attend:

 

No pre-requisites are required for this course as it is intended for users who are new to the natural gas industry and have little or no experience using the LINK® System. For new employees, this course should be taken prior to the Fundamentals of LINK® course in order to obtain a basic understanding of the industry, Spectra Energy, and the LINK® System.

Local Security Administrator


Local Security Administrator

Description:

Through a combination of hands on and lecture, this two hour course will help Local Security Administrators better perform security maintenance for their company. 

Specific areas reviewed will include:

·         Service Requester Configuration

·         Processing Agencies and Affiliations

·         Establishing Local Security Administrators

·         Creating user ids and assigning access rights

·         Understanding associated tariff requirements

Objective:

The objective of this course is assist users who are, or will become, Local Security Administrators in performing their tariff defined functions.

Students attending this course should have attended the Fundamentals of LINK® class or have equivalent experience.
